Nicaraguan Coffee

Context

Sometimes, no matter how many times you read through your own writings, you say something that is misunderstood…whoops!  Thankfully this was caught quickly!

When we spoke last about our need, it looked like we were needing both one time and monthly support increase.

We need one time gifts to total $14,000.

OR

We need monthly gifts to increase by $2,300 per month.

OR (most likely to happen)

We need a combination of one time gifts and monthly increased giving to total $14,000 to stay for 6 months.

This looks much more reasonable and doable…even more than the last purposed support listing!  We are so appreciative of the support we have received and those that have stepped up in big ways.  God is using your financial blessing to expand the work and ministry done here in Krakow, Poland.  We thank you for believing in us, our calling, and supporting our family in this adventure.

If you feel lead to give, please go to our Church of the Nazarene donation page here (this donation is tax deductible):

We love and are thankful for you all!

Chapter 25: Leading

We are now back from a much needed and thoroughly enjoyed Holiday. We started our travels with the Hillsong Conference, No Other Name.  This took place at the O2 Arena in London.  It was refreshing to gather together with over 4,000 people to worship God.  We took part in several leadership seminars, heard God’s truth through dynamic speakers, and praised in collective worship with empowered worship leaders.  Awesome.

We departed “Happy London Town” to Glasgow, Scotland.  Though the 9 hour MegaBus trip was a memory I wouldn’t mind having surgically removed, watching the sunrise in the Scottish countryside more than made up for it.  It reminded us that God’s beauty can be found in all circumstances of life, even during major pain.

I challenge you to find anything wrong with Scotland.

We spent some wonderful time with our friend Amy Warner; what an amazing family filled with a gift for hospitality!  Bagpipes, kilts, and coffee, Scotland has it all!  We were blessed to have conversation with 3 of the 4 leaders of the BLEND coffee shop ministry taking place in Perth.  Clearly a ministry that has found: the right people, at the right place, at the right time.   God is doing amazing things through this place and these people.

We were able to visit our YWAM Scotland friends Claire and Allison.  Talk about two Spirit filled women who are passionate for God!  We are so thankful for their friendship, prayers and presence in our lives.  Blessing to you and your ministry!

After our time in Glasgow, we traveled to Edinburgh to visit Rosemary Davidson.  Such an encourager!  All the recommendations were spot on; you can’t leave her presence without feeling uplifted.  Her congregation was also lovely!  They opened their church home to our family sharing about Coffee Shop Ministry in Poland.  Truly blessed by their church!

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.

Acts 1:8 NKJV

This verse gives such a promise, such a leading.  Acts is full of moving and works of God’s people through the Holy Spirit.  With this in mind, we focus on the path in front of us.

Our path currently is to focus on those people who God has placed in our lives:

  • We hope to start a bible study in the upcoming weeks at our house for some of our College age staff members.
  • We are trying to build relationships with our neighbors through Michelle’s gift of baking.
  • English conversations with our coffee people
  • Worship nights, youth nights, and prayer meetings
  • Building relationships with the parents of Loralie’s friends
  • A project to connect our shops with a coffee farm in Honduras!

With the transition out of management, we have come to find our roles as volunteers changing.  One thing has become clear in understanding our new roles; we need more time.  Because we need more time, additional financial support is a dire need.

Here is a basic run down of our financial need to stay until the end of our lease, July 1st.

One time gifts equaling:              $14,000

Monthly support to increase by:  $2,300

These numbers always seem so high when first approaching them.  God always amazes me how he can take what seems like a huge mountain in front of us and then turn it into a mustard seed.  We have continually been humbled by the financial provision over the last few years.

I know some people are interested in supporting us for specific needs.  Here are some things you can financially support us with:  Housing, Food, Jack and Loralie’s School, our monthly insurance payments, transportation needs, renewing our visa permits (these are just a few!).

If you are unable to help partner with us in financial support, please keep us in your prayers (just as necessary!).

Pray that:

  • God would bless us financially
  • We invest our remaining time appropriately (whether 4 months, 10 months, or longer!)
  • We would build strong relationships with the parents of the kids at school, our neighbors, and our coffee contacts
  • God would bless the transition and the new manager of the shop

We are so thankful for each and every one of you!  We would not be here if it was not for your prayer and financial support.  God is using each and every one of you to bless us, so that we can in turn be a blessing to others.  Our cup overflows because of you!

Please send us your prayer requests so that we can join in prayer with you.  You have done so much for us, it is the least we can do.  God bless!
